Best practice for RDX / Veeam 8

Post by robert »

The following setup is in place:
- Hyper-v 2012 R2 Host
- Multiple Hyper-V 2012 R2 Guests
- Internal RDX Drive
- 5 RDX Cartridges rotated daily
- Veeam 8

What is the best practice setup for this kind of environment?
- Is it better to use forward incremental / reverse incremental
- Does veeam automatically keep track of the cartridges
- Does veaam automatically clear up older restore points if the drive becomes full?

I should note that RDX drives are not recognized as tape, but as USB disks.

Just add the device as a repository and enable "rotated" option in its settings.

[MERGED] : HP RDX Support

Post by jumbo23 »

Hello all,

Just a quick question. Does Veeam 8 support HP RDX? This is over USB

I have the RDX unit attached directly to the 2012 R2 Hyper V host. Veeam 8 is installed on this host

Many thanks

Yep, backup server should work fine with RDX. Also, it might be worth taking a look at this thread. Thanks.
