CBT on CSV
Hi,
I´d like to know how veeam is gathering the changed blocks? Is it a Live Filesystem Filter?
Where does Veeam store its Changed Block Tracking Information? Is it a File on a Node?
How does Veeam incorporate with CSV? Does it track on each Node and consolidate the data?
Do i have to consider any extra IO´s while CBT is active?
Do i have to increase storage design because of CBT (If its a File?)
It would be cool to shed some light on this.
Thanks

Re: CBT on CSV
Hi Vitaliy,
yep, that answered most questions.
Could you tell me anything about filegrowth related to VHD growth (do you compress the data?)
And what about Performance (IOPS) - will there be some caching in RAM and aggregated writes to .ctp files, or will each write to CSV gets an equal write to .cpt?
Thanks!

Re: CBT on CSV
Each 4MB of data require 2 bytes in the .ctp file (no compression). Data are cached in memory prior to be written into .ctp files.

Re: CBT on CSV
Just to add to that, our changed block tracking filter driver has been officially certified by Microsoft last month.
