Changed VM name in Hyper-V not reflected in Veeam Backup Job

Post by c.edwards »

Hi,

I have changed the name of a VM in the Hyper-V managment console. I have not changed the hostname or any other name: Unfortunately I do not see this name change reflected in Veeam B&R,

1. Will the VM still backup.
2. How do I update the name of the VM in the backup job.

I'd rather not remove and re-add the server because I intend to rename all the servers and presumably this will cause much more space (and time) to be used by the backup job.

Many Thanks.

Hi Christopher,

Welcome to the forums!

It should update on the next job run. I just tested real quick in my lab and after running the job, the name of the VM was showing the updated name, and after starting the job, the name was updated when going to edit the job as well. No need for an Active Full here, just run the job and the VMs that were renamed will have their names updated in Veeam.
