Changing and migrating Repository

Post by HErceg »

Hello,

Some time ago I set Hyper-V repository as SMB, and later I read DAS is better solution. So now I would like to change repository type, but keep path and backups.I am wondering is it possible to do it without loosing data?BCJ are linked to Backup jobs.

2 more related questions:
When adding Managed servers type I can add Hyper-V or MS Windows server. Is there any practical difference?
Can I rename backup destination folder and point job to it?

Hi Hrvoje,

Have you already checked this kb describing how to migrate to the new repository?
You might also be interested in reading this thread with the discussions on changing repository type from SMB to NFS.

Thanks!

If you're adding a server with the Hyper-V role and planning to protect the VMs running on it, the Hyper-V option should be used. For the purpose of repository, you can just use the Windows server option.
