During Veeam replication, can we reboot VM?

Post by metalironwood »

Hi Guys,

Good-day to you all, nothing wrong with my veeam here, everything was working fine. Just i got a question here , that during replication, can we reboot the hyper-V VM source (not the host, just VM only).
Environment is a cluster where 2 servers connect to SAN in primary and same goes as redundancy site.

Thank You
James

Hi James, yes, you can reboot the source VM, this doesn't affect the replication. Thanks!

Hi James,

If you work with crash-consistent processing - there is no risk, you can reboot any time you want.
If you enable application-aware processing - you might get a warning after the job is finished saying we couldn't clean up transaction logs, but there is still no risk for replication.

Thanks!

Hi Foggy & Natalie,

Thx for fast response. It did not enable application-aware processing inside the setting.
Well, that's clear my worry.

Thank you Guys.

It is, however, recommended to enable it in most cases.
