Failed to finalize guest processing. Error: Cannot copy file

Veeam Logoby ravelin » Wed Jul 13, 2016 9:06 am

case 01828495

I get an error like the one below on all 2012 server on 2008 Hyperv host when I enable application aware:
Code: Select all
13-07-2016 10:34:45 :: Failed to finalize guest processing. Error: Cannot copy file. Source file: [\\172.16.56.9\ADMIN$\VeeamVssSupport\metadata\VSS\BackupComponents.xml]. Target file: [C:\Windows\TEMP\b27e02fe-e8cb-4627-9b49-af8ecb4023b1\BackupComponents.xml].
CopyFile() failed.
Win32 error:The system cannot find the file specified.
 Code: 2

From the Veeam server (172.16.56.7), I can connect to \\172.16.56.9\ADMIN$ (target). But there simply is no folder called VeeamVssSupport.
I tried starting the job, and it (VeeamVssSupport\metadata) seems to be there while it says "Subscribing to guest processing components"
I have no VSS folder however.

Support is requesting me to completely reinstall my server, but I doubt that would do anything.

Hi Kenneth, do you mean Hyper-V 2008 R2, since it is the least supported version by Veeam B&R?

Is it 100% specific to processing W2012 guests only? I don't think Veeam B&R reinstall will help in this case, however you can try, just don't forget to backup its configuration first. More deep investigation of log files is required here.

Well the strange thing is, that the old veeam server, also 2008R2, could backup, and still can without a problem.
