File Server Migration (long file name)

Post by plavielle »

Hello Veeam team an Users.

I want to migrate my file server from 2008 (not r2) to 2016 or 2019. I have a lot of long file name/path and i have found that Veeam can restore file without been blocked by long file name limitation.

So my question is : If i setup a new file server and i restore file on it (and copy share configuration) does it go to work properly ?????

I use VEEAM 9.5.4.2866 Enterprise Plus Edition (it work like a charm) + VBR 9.5.4.2866 Community Edition

Hi plavielle,

I suggest checking out this (and perhaps searching for others) thread on the forum.
In general, you should be good to go with filenames even longer than 255 characters.

Thanks.
