Full Backup restore point

Post by tjacob »

We backup to portable USB drives
  • We use a different drive every day but reuse them the following week
We keep every Friday's drive for 5 weeks
We keep every Month end drive indefinitely
So I only need to keep one copy of a full backup on any given drive.
Is there any way to configure Veeam to only do that?
Right now it is creating a new full backup each time that drive gets reused, so I'm ending up with multiple Full backups

Thanks

Hi Tim, so basically you need to clean up the drive prior to writing a new full backup to it, right? Please review this KB for details.

Thanks foggy.
So if I understand the simplicity of it correctly, I can flag the Repository as a rotated drive, and manually delete the previous backup before it creates the new?

You definitely need to enable rotated drives setting on the repository but you do not need to manually delete backups - with the registry value set, Veeam B&R will do it automatically for you. Thanks!
