Hyper-V backup problem KB5014746

Post by Jason.Edwards »

Hello!

I am having a problem backing up Hyper-V servers located within a cluster. The cluster manager server and underlying nodes in cluster are 2012r2 servers. Contacting Veeam support they stated I need to uninstall the KB5014746 update; however, uninstalling this update will require a restart and I'm not in an easy position to restart these servers.

When trying to connect to the cluster in the properties in Veeam, I get this error message:
---------
Failed to connect to cluster "servername"

Failed to create Hyper-V Cluser Wmi utils: Access denied or timeout expired.
Check if you have local admin privileges on computer "server name"
---------

I'm just curious if anyone else has ran into this issue and if there is a solution that does not require restarting the server? This error message started appearing around the time that the patch was installed.

VBR version 11

Thank you for your time, and if you need additional info please let me know.

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

Looking at the number of support cases with that KB and searching through the forums make me think, that it's a relatively rare problem (described in Veeam KB4333). But let's see, whether somebody answers.

Could you please post the Veeam support case number for reference?

Best regards,
Hannes
