Hyper-V Nodes Except C:\ClusterStorage Folder
Hi,
I am currently testing B&R 9.5 u4. I want to backup our two hyper-v cluster nodes and need to except the folder c:\clusterstorage to avoid the "...failed to create snapshot..." error.
Is that possible in any way?
Regards
Jay

Hi Jay, welcome to the community!
Can you elaborate a bit about the platform of the cluster? Are these servers physical or maybe virtual machines on VMWare, Hyper-V?
Thanks!

Sure. Let me explain.
We are using two Dell R730 with 2012 R2 as Hyper-V Host / as Hyper-V cluster. The storage is direct attached with sas to both hosts.
Now I want to backup those two physical hosts and exclude the folder c:\clusterstorage.
Regards

You should deploy the Veeam Agent for Windows on both hosts. The deployment is available within the Veeam Backup & Replication console UI.
Then you will be able to choose File-level backup mode in the Agent Backup Job Creation wizard with the ability to exclude the desired folder. Thanks!

Veeam Agent automatically skips CSV volumes from the backup.

Re: Hyper-V Nodes Except C:\ClusterStorage Folder
I am now testing the File-level backup mode.
When I choose entire computer the backup for the host which is the current cluster host server failes with a vss error. I guess this is becaus it tries to do a snaptshot for the complete volume, including c:\clusterstorage. So no csv is skipped.

Re: Hyper-V Nodes Except C:\ClusterStorage Folder
VSS error will require some troubleshooting done, feel free to involve Veeam Support for it.
Veeam Agent for Windows shall process backups on a Hyper-V host with CSV volumes no matter the Backup Mode: Entire Computer, Volume Level or File Level backup - it automatically skips CSV volumes from processing.
/Thanks!
