Good day
I am using a Hyper-V Off-Host proxy which has a 100GB network connection directly to a HPE Alletra4140 storage array. The Off-Host proxy preferred network is set to use the 100Gb network for backup traffic and I can see that when the test job starts it does use this 100Gb link.
I have also installed the Hardware VSS provider on the Off-Host proxy and on the Hyper-V host where the test VM being backed up is running.
I have also changed the Hyper-V host managed volumes to use Hardware VSS provider.
The Off-Host backup proxy is working but the performance is very poor compared to using an On-Host proxy for the same job.
On-Host proxy job finishes in 8 minutes but when using the Off-Host proxy it finishes in 1 hour.
What I have noticed is that the 200GB disk has a much slower reading speed when using a Off-Host proxy compared to using the On-Host proxy. Not sure of this might be some guidance to resolve this problem.
Any help/advice will be much appreciated.
On-Host Proxy Backup:
2:14:47 PM Hard disk 1 (100 GB) 599 MB read at 124 MB/s [CBT] 00:07
2:14:47 PM Hard disk 2 (50 GB) 790 MB read at 138 MB/s [CBT] 00:07
2:14:47 PM Hard disk 3 (200 GB) 34.6 GB read at 189 MB/s [CBT] 03:11
Off-Host Proxy Backup:
4:55:39 PM Hard disk 1 (50 GB) 790 MB read at 12 MB/s [CBT] 01:09
4:55:39 PM Hard disk 2 (200 GB) 32.6 GB read at 9 MB/s [CBT] 01:03:39
4:55:39 PM Hard disk 3 (100 GB) 599 MB read at 12 MB/s [CBT] 00:52
Thanks
