Hyper-V Off-Host Proxy with two nimble SANs
Hi Team,
Any idea if it is possible to use one hyper-v off host proxy (Fibre Channel) attached to two nimble SANs? Or would we need one proxy per SAN? I guess it would depend on how the VSS or nimble NWT works.
I have also asked Nimble, just waiting to hear back there.
Thanks,
Cullan

Re: Hyper-V Off-Host Proxy with two nimble SANs
Cullan,
I think as long as Nimble's storage has a 1) hardware VSS provider which 2) support transportable shadow copies and 3) can handle volumes coming from two different SAN's, you should be able to use Veeam-off host proxy.
I know its not a very helpful answer .
But please do share what response you get from Nimble.
Thank you.

Using a single off-host proxy with two SANs should be possible.

Re: Hyper-V Off-Host Proxy with two nimble SANs
Hi Team,
We have an open case with Veeam (02114351) and Nimble about this and had a support call with both vendors which didn't really go anywhere. We are currently unable to get it to working. In the Veeam article linked below it says Nimble SANs are supported for Off Host Proxy Backups.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/hyp ... ackup.html
I believe some further configuration is probably needed on the Nimble end but we are unsure where.
On Host Backups work with no issues. Is anyone able to assist?
Thanks!

Hi Daniel, the case had just been opened today, so please continue working with our engineers on it until the resolution. You may ask for escalation, if required.

Re: Hyper-V Off-Host Proxy with two nimble SANs
Hi All,
Thought I would update you with why it wasn't working in out infrastructure. We were missing port 4210 open from the Node to the management IP of the SAN. This was causing the off host proxy backup to fail.
Regards,
