Infrastructure

Hi

Is it possible to use the same server for backup and Proxy? Or would it be better to use dedicated server for proxy?
In a small setup I would like to save hardware and MS license cost.

Thx

Assuming I’ve understood you correctly, it’s possible to install VB&R server on source Hyper-V host where VMs you’re willing to back up or replicate reside on and also use it as the onhost proxy.

However, be aware that in this case, all necessary operations will be performed directly on the source Hyper-V host. It, in its turn, may result in CPU/network overhead.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.

Thanks

You understood almost correct :)

I will have 2 hosts - one running all VM's and one running proxy/backup and will serve as a restore option if the main host fails...

In this case you will be using off-host backup proxy, this approach has its own system requirements that can be found in the User Guide (page 13), please make sure you meet all of them.
