missing restore content from backup in context menu vm
Hi,
we have upgraded our standard version to the enterprise. Now I have the problem, that some VMs with Sharepoint and all VMs with SQL Server don't have in the context menu
from the VM the point "Restore Microsoft SharePoint/SQL Server content from backup" even application-aware processing is activated and a complete Full backup with this
option is created.
VMs with Exchange no Problem and one SharePoint also no problem and the restore point in the context menu is available.
Do someone know, what the problem can be at the SQL Server and the one SharePoint VM, that this point is not available at the context menu?
Thanks and best regards,
Marcus

Providing that those VMs have been processed properly and without any issues, the corresponding icon should be reflected there.
Can you tell me whether the SQL/Sharepoint wizard works, if being started from ribbon? That should help us to understand whether it's more a UI glitch or those items cannot be successfully restored.
Thanks.

Re: missing restore content from backup in context menu vm
first thanks for the quick reply!
the VMs without the menu item all processed without any errors or warnings. To just be on the save side, I deleted the backups
of those VMs and created complete new with activated Guest Processing (application-aware processing + guest file system indexing)
but without any change in the result.
When I start the restore point from the Ribbon, the point with the SQL/SharePoint Wizard is also missing.
At the working VMs the point is also available at the ribbon bar restore menu.

Not sure whether I fully understood "missing restore point" portion.
Are you saying that if you go to backups node -> select the said VMs in corresponding job -> and click on the ribbon "application items" button, selecting a proper application, none of the restore points will be shown there for you?

Re: missing restore content from backup in context menu vm
I mean the restore point under the virtual machines node, not the backups-disk node. If I go over this node, I have the menu point with
restore applications items -> Microsoft SQL Server databases but it doesn't work correct, I see in the Explorer for SQL Server only the
complete databases to restore or export and no items like tables, views, ... and when I select a database in the right column of the
explorer under Available Restore Period is Not available written.
Regarding the sharepoint vm is also in the backup-disk node not displaying the restore applications items -> Microsoft Sharepoint content,
only the backup node of the vm which is showing the restore item under the virtual machines node.

Re: missing restore content from backup in context menu vm
OK, the point with SharePoint is solved. Thanks to Cancom Mr. Schmid.
http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/80/e ... sions.html
The problem was, that the sharepoint VM is in the perimeter network and the database in the LAN.
For the guest processing, I used the admin from perimeter domain which have no rights in the LAN
or the sql server. Now I used for guest processing the SharePoint Farm administrator from the
LAN which also have rights in the perimeter domain and it works.

marcus

Re: missing restore content from backup in context menu vm
Currently, Veeam Explorer for SQL does not support granular SQL restores (if that is the issue). With v8, to be able to restore specific tables, you need to get v8-compatible SQL AIR wizard by opening a ticket with our support team. However, table-level recovery will be included in Veeam Explorer for SQL Server coming with Veeam B&R v9.
