Hello!
I am confused what is the recommended procedure to backup a Ubuntu VM, running MySQL on a Hyper-V host.
If i install linux-cloud-tools and enable Hyper-V Guest quiescence in Advanced settings under Hyper-V. Is this a sound option to backup MYSQL?
Or should I use the option "Backup a Linux Computer" as if it where a physical machine and then install the Linux agent on the VM?
Or should i choose the first option and add pre and post backup scripts to frees the database for backup?
Best regards

Re: MySQL on Ubuntu VM
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
The main question is about which database engine you use. For VMware, you can also apply the VMware best practices discussed in several other forum threads
The Linux agent would also be an option and it actually has a checkbox to enable MySQL backup.

Re: MySQL on Ubuntu VM
The engine is InnoDB. I went with the Agent Backup for now, still unclear if if Virtual Machine backup would be of any difference.
