Hi,
Testing Veeam and getting the following error when trying to backup a VM in a CSV using an offhost proxy :
Unable to create snapshot Dell EqualLogic VSS HW Provider on Hyper-V Offhost Backup Proxy (mode: Crash consistent). Details: Unknown status of async operation The shadow copy provider had an error. Check the System and Application event logs for more information. --tr:Failed to create VSS snapshot. --tr:Failed to perform pre-backup tasks.
Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: Unknown status of async operation The shadow copy provider had an error. Check the System and Application event logs for more information. --tr:Failed to create VSS snapshot. --tr:Failed to perform pre-backup tasks.
The volume I'm trying to backup has a 0% snapshot reserve on the SAN, is this the issue? Does Veeam use the SAN to create the snapshot?
Thanks

Re: offhost proxy backup error
Answered my own question, a snapshot reserve is required on the SAN.

Re: offhost proxy backup error
Yes, during a backup job, Veeam triggers VSS snapshot against the volume where your VMs are located and then transfers this snapshot to the off-host proxy server.
