Problem restoring without VBK

Post by AlternativeN »

Hi,

I backup my HyperV using incremental for 14 days.
While making the new full, there was a electric problem. And now my fulkl vbk disapeared. I only have vib files...
And I need to restore...
Is it possible to do something with vib files ? Itried the extractor but it needs the vbk.

Thank you !

Hello!

Unfortunately, this is not possible. VIB files are incremental backups containing only changes (delta) from the previous state, as such they are absolutely useless without their "base" full backup (VBK file).

Your scenario is the reason behind 3-2-1 rule of backups, which mandates having at least one copy of your backups on a separate storage.

Thanks!
