Reconfiguring backup jobs

Post by HErceg »

Hello,

Today I reinstalled physical server(Host1) and changed the name, but now I have some issues with backup.
Before reinstallation I moved VM-s to other server(Host2) via Live migration, and later returned it to reinstalled host. All VM(VM01, VM02) are working normal, except Veeam can't backup machines on host1.
Veeam server is located on Host2, and wasn't moved.
New Hyper-V host is added to Veeam infrastructure.

From what I can see Veeam can't find standalone host, and that is the reason jobs are failing.Would it be prudent to remove host1 VM(VM01, VM02) and then add same VM-s from new host? Will it cause conflict, or maybe deletion of previous backups?

Hello,
as you mention that you have standalone hosts, the reason is that the IDs of the VMs changed. For safety reasons (VM rename etc.) we always use an unique identifier to backup a VM (same for VMware). If that ID changes, you need to add the VM again to a backup job. Then new backup starts.

And remove old VMs from backup job.

Best regards,
Hannes
