Recovery on new HyperV-Maschine

Post by HolyMoly »

Hello,
I am currently planning a complete restore of our production environment (hyperv1 with 6 VMs) to a second currently unused hyperv server (hyperv2). After the restore, hyperv2 should be disconnected from the network and the VMs should be started on a test basis to check the functions.
Is there anything I have to take care not to damage the productive environment ?

Best regards
Frank

Hi Frank,

During restore to an alternative location, VBR does not interact with the environment you've backed up, so you should be fine. The only thing you should take care of is networking, and VBR provides a specific feature to help customers solve networking difficulties when performing test restores. It's called Virtual Lab, which is a part of the SureBackup technology.

Thanks

Thanks !
During restore process it's possible to check the VMs for malware. It is mentioned, that the antivirus-software should be installed on the mountserver for the repository. Am I wright to think that this should be the server where the restore-job will be running ?

Best regards,
Frank
