replica between 2012 primary site and 2012 R2 DR
I have tested a setup where i try to replica from a 2012 failover cluster hyper-v to a 2012 R2 faiilover cluster. The replica works fine but when I try to failback i get errors saying Cannot load virtual machine configuration: the data version is not supported.
Seems like the same error stated here: http://support.altaro.com/customer/port ... -v-manager
Can I assume that replication from a 2012 cluster from/to a 2012 R2 cluster will not work?

Frank, are you talking about failback to the original VM or failover to the replica VM? Basically, replication to a higher hypervisor version is fully supported.

Re: replica between 2012 primary site and 2012 R2 DR
I tried to fallback my replica to original production.
How can I chek which VM virtual hardware I got? Since i created that VM on a 2012 cluster it should be compatible with his when I fallback also?

There should not be any issues with failback to the original location, so I suggest contacting technical support for further investigation. There's a chance that the replica VM configuration was somehow changed on the target host that resulted in the observed behavior.

[MERGED] Replicate Hyper-v 2012R2 to 2012
Just wondering if anyone has tried or had experience replicating Hyper-V 2012R2 to 2012?
I know this is not ideal. I have a customer with two sites and the 2nd site is still on 2012 and can not upgarde for a few more months.
We would like to replicate a few VM's to the second site.
The VM's our ofcourse all Gen1 as Gen2 will obviously not work on 2012R2.
Thnx
Gil

Gil, please see the discussion above. Replication to a lower hypervisor version is not supported.
