Restore Azure VMs to On-Premise Hyper-V?
I've backed up my Azure VMs using Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and the backups were stored in Azure blob storage. As per the Veeam v11 and v12 article it mentioned the instant recovery supported restoration of backups created by Veeam backup for Microsoft Azure.
However, when I access to VBR console and try to perform the restoration, Instant Recovery option for the backups created by Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure were greyed out. May I know if restoring Azure VMs to on-premise Hyper-V is possible? Or is there any specific steps that we can perform the restoration?

Re: Restore Azure VMs to On-Premise Hyper-V?
Hi Markus
It works in my lab. I created a new policy in my Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure appliance and had run a backup session.
Instant Recovery is not greyed out for that restore point.
I suggest to open a case with our customer support and let them check your settings and debug logs.
Please share with me the case number.

Best,
Fabian

Re: Restore Azure VMs to On-Premise Hyper-V?
i Found this thead while searching for the same issue myself. Not sure if you ever resolved the issue yourself but in my case The Application Restore options where greyed out because the repository was not properly configured. As you create the repository later inside the Appliance. The VBR is aware of the snapshots from which it cannot do a Application Restore.
To fix the issue Edit the Azure Appliance settings From the Backup Infrastructure menu in VBR and (re)configure the repository settings there.

Hello Joroen
Thanks for sharing your solution.
Meanwhile I could also confirm (for another case) that this is indeed required. You need to provide credentials first for connecting to the external repository.
Best,
Fabian
