We want to leverage the per-vm backup files so we have performed a active full backup. We did use forever incremental.
This is working. But it seems the restore points is growing from our 28 restore points in the default job.
Will Veeam let the "old" backup files be left until we have 28 restore points in the new per-vm chain before they remove this restores point (and old files)?

Re: Restore poitns after acitve full backup
Hi Frank,
Per-VM backup chains act in the same way as regular chains in terms of retention policy settings. So once you have 28 restore points + 1 active full backup, only after that old restore points will be discarded.
Thanks!

That makes sense of course. I will in this situation get 56 restore points the "last" day before it goes back to 28

Yes, that's correct, as only in this case you're guaranteed to have restore points according the configured retention policy.
