Salutations all,
We would like to take one of our physical machines and restore it to a Hyper-V VM. Using the instant recovery option to be able to do this, we will hopefully have the backup running in no time. There's only one thing that I either didn't read or isn't in the Veeam guide. Does the VM have to be existent on the host in order for the operation to be successful, or does VBR automatically create one? I went through the process myself and saw you could change the name of the machine. Does that mean you're changing the name of a VM that already exists or merely setting the name for a VM you want to create? Please let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Restoring a physical machine to a VM
Hi Jack
A new VM will be created.
You don't have to pre create any VMs for instant VM recovery.
Best,
Fabian
