Rotated drives as Backup or copy job?

Veeam Logoby iTob » Fri Apr 17, 2015 12:58 pm

Hi,
i have a NAS-Repository and 5 rotaded harddrives.
I would make a Backup on the NAS every hour 8:00-20:00
and a Backup on the HD in the night.
Shoud I use a Backup Copy Job for the externel HD or an extra Backup Job?
Thx

If I were you, I'd probably stick to backup copy job in order not to touch production VMs second time. Thanks.

We have this setup for a few clients and in nearly all cases we have used backup copy jobs for rotated media.
in Version 7 we used the registry keys to force create the full vbk and clear the all data.

it works reliably and doesn't impact production. We just needed to take into account the data size and the backup window.

As we were rotating the drives each day/night everytime the job ran it would take while as it was having to recreate a full.

And don't forget that in version 8 you can use more granular option, instead. Thanks.
