RPC Failed

Hi All,

we are experiencing some issues with the backups of our file server and are not sure if its veeam, Hyper-V of maybe even the 3par. the full error we get is stated below:
Error: The remote procedure call was cancelled RPC function call failed. Function name: [DoRpcWithBinary]. Target machine: [10.128.4.161]. Target machine: [10.128.4.161]. the first times these errors occured the Hyper-V server became unresponsive and had to be rebooted through the local console.

we made some changes on the Hyper-V servers WMI settings and after that the server is still managable through System Center but the backup keeps failing after 2 to 5 weeks. the WMI Settings are stated here: http://robvit.com/system_center/vmm/err ... esponding/

the setup: Host: Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Host Host: HP 3Par SAN the server that wont backup: Windows Server 2012 R2 4 Processors 4 - 16 GB Dynamic memory 100GB OS disk 4x 2TB disk 1x 4TB disk.

before we open a ticket at our supplier i would like to ask you guys if this sounds familliar and if any of you found a solution to this issue.

Michiel, let our engineers review the logs first. There should be more info about the issue.

the log files where allready reviewed and there is a great possibility that this is a microsoft related issue but the Windows Server Backup shows no issues at all.. which is why i wanted to post the issue on the forum, in the hope someone here experienced the same issues.

Windows Server Backup might not be using Hyper-V APIs required for virtual machine backup. I would suggest to install all Windows updates, restart RPC service, review Windows Event log for more details to resolve this issue.
