Hi,
Can anyone clarify whether you can successfully complete a VSS backup of a Windows 2012 R2 guest OS via a Hyper-V Windows 2012 (non R2) host? Or will an upgrade of the host be required?
The following seems to indicate the OS is supported but is not specific to a VSS request.
https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn792028.aspx
Veeam 9.0 will be deployed in On-Host backup mode because the virtual machines are running on local storage.
Thanks
Jamie

Re: Server 2012 Host - VSS
Hi,
Until 2012 R2, Hyper-V uses integration services to notify the guest's VSS of an upcoming backup operation so it can perform the same preparations as VSS in the host. I believe that having guest OS Integration Service updated should be enough.
Thank you.
