Server 2012 VDI Collection Backup Options

Post by devilsadvocate »

Hi

Has anybody had any success utilising Veeam B&R 7 to backup a Server 2012 Hyper-v VDI Pool Collection? Specifically how to run the backup of User Profile Data disks.

Thanks

Hi Cevan,

What kind of issues do you have with it currently? Can you please elaborate it further?

Thanks!

Hi Vitaliy

Thanks for replying. The issue we have had is that by storing the user profile irks on the CSV's, we cannot back them up with Veeam, as we do not want to backup each instance of the desktop within the VDI as each user is assigned an instance dynamically. We believe we have a work around by using a shared path for the UPD's hosted on one of the VM's that Veeam is backing up.

Cheers

Cevan, I believe that those of our customers who had experience with backup of Microsoft VDI pooled desktops will chime in, however, if you go and decide to implement this workaround and could share the results with the community, it would be highly appreciated.
