SOBR with standard and linux repository

Post by storageguy »

Hi,

I have a SOBR with extents on Windows and Linux. Now I want to evacuate the Windows extents to the Linux extents, but it is giving me an error saying that it cannot evacuate the backup data. Is this evacuation even possible on this scenario?

Thanks

Hello,

Yes, it is possible, there are no limitations for evacuation depending on extent's operating system. However, it's quite difficult to say what's going on without the exact message itself. Also, I strongly recommend to reach out our support engineers and ask them to troubleshoot the error, we cannot analyze technical issues effectively over the forum posts. Please don't forget to share a support case ID.

Thanks!

Also, I know the Veeam documentation says you can mix Windows and Linux in a SOBR. Still, after speaking to many people, it is better to have either Windows or Linux in a SOBR which makes management more effortless. That is the model we have adopted now as we had mixed, and it did not go very well with client data.
