Hi,
I want to use VEEAM free edition in order to make ad hoc backups of a HyperV VM running Windows 2012 w/ SQL server 2012 - but without having VEEAM truncating the log files!
With VEEAM-Zip I cannot see any option like "copy only" like in the full version.
What would you suggest instead?
Should I stop SQL Server before the backup is started? Would VEEAM-Zip leave the SQL logs untouched?
OR should I rather take the backup with the VM cold? In this case I believe the logs will be left alone.....
regards
Thomas

Re: SQL host backup - how to tell VEEAM not to truncate log
Hi Thomas,
This option is available in the full version only, however you can indeed stop SQL Server instance or do cold backup to prevent logs from truncation. Another option would be to do backup of the logs via native tools and then trigger the VeeamZIP job.
Thanks!
