Storage Integration
We're running an Hyper-v Cluster on HPE Nimble storage and I was looking for the storage integration, but could not find the "Add storage" mentioned in the guides.
Is it only supposed to work with vmware ?
thanks

Re: Storage Integration
Hello,
Yes, backup from storage snapshots is supported in vSphere environments only.
By the way, if you want to shift data processing from Hyper-V host to a dedicated proxy you may try off-host backup with Nimble VSS Hardware provider.
Thanks!

Re: Storage Integration
And this is basically a Hyper-V native implementation of backup from storage snapshots.

Re: Storage Integration
Do you have any whitepapers on this, and/or what sort of i/o benefits it has? It's a fairly steep upgrade to go to Ent+ or VAS, and one advantage Hyper-V has held was the ability to have the proxy run directly on host vs running VM Proxies as Guests ON those Hosts.PetrM wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2021 3:48 pm Yes, backup from storage snapshots is supported in vSphere environments only.

This link can provide deeper information. In this setup, you have a proxy running on a standalone Hyper-V host releasing your production host from the processing activity.

Foggy, seems like your link just goes into details about shadow copies on Microsoft's site and doesn't show a particular setup.
Is that the right link?

Re: Storage Integration
The link is more to answer the "what sort of i/o benefits it has" question while the setup itself is described in our user guide in pretty good detail.
