Surebackup pinging servers fails
I've got an issue where when Surebackup brings some servers up, the heartbeat is OK, but the ping fails. (Support - Case # 04728392)
Thinking about this, I'm wondering if this is due to netowrk profles on the VMs. We have it set so the firewall is off on the Domain profile, but on on the Public and Private ones. When the server is booted by Surebackup, it isn't connected to the Domain network, so it uses the Public or Private profiles, turning the firewall on and blocking ICMP.
Does this sound like a reasonable explaination?
The only flaw with this theory is that I have at least one server where the ping is OK in Surebackup.

Re: Surebackup pinging servers fails
Hi Tim
Sure that does explain it and it is quite common case!
You can force specific network profile via reg key in Windows
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles\ setting Category to "2" makes profile a domain one.
/Cheers!

Re: Surebackup pinging servers fails
I'm modified our group policy to allow ICMP ping from the server VLANs through the firewall on the Public and Private network profiles. Now I need to do another backup wiith the new settings and see if the SureBackup can ping
