symlink to Yearly backup file
On my Backup copy repository (the one that holds ONLY backup copy - in another building, part of DR strategy), I run out of space and did not fancy doing all sorts of magical temp copy to replace drives with bigger ones.
So I simply added another shelf on separate hardware RAID controller card.
So I have 2 arrays (each being different drive letter for the OS - Server 2012 R2)
Surely I do not "need" yearly backup file for most of the year, so I have it moved to other drive letter with only symlink to it in Veeam backup folder.
Does Veeam even take any notice of symlinks in that way?
Seb

Re: symlink to Yearly backup file
Hi,
What do you mean by "Yearly backup file", is it a GFS restore point?
Thanks

You mean if Veeam will follow the symlink and delete the backup file when its retention comes?Does Veeam even take any notice of symlinks in that way?
Thanks

Re: symlink to Yearly backup file
I see that symlink is not being seen as Y backup in:
backups on disk under "disk (copy)" / then right-click on the copy job / properties / restore points
backups on disk under "disk (copy)" / then right-click on the copy job / properties / restore points

Re: symlink to Yearly backup file
Right, Veeam won't treat the link as backup file and will just delete the link.
Thanks
