Does anyone have advice on how a StoreOnce 3540 will perform as a CIFS share performing Synthetic full backups? I'd like to avoid the long backup window required for an Active Full backup, but without a Catalyst license would I run into more problems?
Also, any preference for Lan Target vs Local storage optimization (13TB usable space)

Re: Synthetic vs Active full on StoreOnce CIFS Repository
Hi,
Depending on the link between the CIFS share and a gateway server the performance during synthetic operations might be pretty low. When you use CIFS as a repository for synth.fulls there is a lot of traffic between the gateway and the share.
Thanks!

Re: Synthetic vs Active full on StoreOnce CIFS Repository
Thanks, everything is on prem with a 10G ethernet link. I've left the Gateway server as automatic, but maybe I should specify a capable server if I am going to explore Synth. Full as an option.

Right, it is better if the gateway server is located as close as possible to the CIFS share.
Thanks!
Thanks!
