Upgrading cluster to 2012 R2

Post by Eson »

Im going to reinstall four hosts in cluster thats on 2012 to 2012 R2. Im going to use the copy cluster wizard. What do I need to do in Veeam after this? I have my jobs mapped to CSV-volumes. Will these mappings still work when the host will have the same names and I have installed the Veeam-agents on the hosts?

Or do I have to recreate all the jobs? I guess that Veeam will at least map to the backed up data and the VMs?

Do you plan to add new hosts to this cluster and then decommission old ones or this is going to be a completely new cluster but connected to the same CSV storage?

Reinstall the four existing hosts and the reconnect them to the same CSV storage.

In this case you will need to re-add VMs to the job and do VM backup files mapping, keep in mind that backup jobs will not be incremental, since CBT data is stored on the host nodes.

Ok, but they will be incremental in the sense that they will only copy changed data but the job will have to read through the entire VHD right?

It depends. If you preserved VM ID during VM import operation, then your job will start an incremental job pass, otherwise full backup will be performed.
