Sorry for the late reply foggy.

The missing updates are those mentioned in this thread.

When I installed SP2 I clicked the ignore button. Now when I updated to SP3 I was notified the updates were missing again so I just clicked ignore again.

Thanks. Ignore is a valid workaround in this case. We still need to update the definitions file.

BTW. If Hyper-v is not a cluster - there is no point in applying cluster specific hotfixes. As for now, we have warning on non cluster hosts about cluster hotfixes.

Sounds reasonable, however, currently there's no logic for detection of cluster nodes and applying their specific updates.

[MERGED] Missing Updates for Hyper-V2012R2 as StandaloneHost

Post by Tos »

Hi, I have a request about Missing Updates for Hyper-V.
I added Hyper-V 2012R2 as StandaloneHosts to Veeam. Then, KB 3068444 and 3068445 and 3090343 in Missing updates appeared. But, the error occurred when they apply these KB to this host.
I can apply it to our Hyper-V Cluster. Also, by the following Mictosoft page, the KB 3068444 is needed for Cluster.
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... nservergen
It's strange that these KB appeared in missing update list.
Is it possible to fix it ? For example, if we add Hyper-V 2012R2 as StandaloneHosts to Veeam, you try not to display these KB at all. (Not clicking "dismiss")

Hi Toshihiro, yes, we are aware of this issue and plan to address it in future. Currently please use the Dismiss button as a workaround.

[MERGED] Veeam Missing Updates

Post by dredd123 »

Hi,

I'm just installing Veeam in our Hyper-V cluster environment. Veeam is claiming that there are updates missing on our clustered Hyper-V hosts. I have installed some of the updates/hotfixes successfully, but when it comes to 3068444 and 3068445 Windows claims "The update is not applicable to your computer". However, Veeam still shows these two updates as missing after running Re-Check.

David, please use the Ignore button for those updates that are not applicable. See above for details.

Quick share:

Veeam v9 Update 1 reported my standalone host with KB3068444, KB3068445, KB3090343 and these updates are not applicable to my host. Can't find the "Ignore" button while i've clicked on "Dismiss All" and the false positives did not show up again even I did a rescan.

Thank you

I guess it's just the matter of how people call the button (I've never seen this dialog myself). You've done everything right.

Having issues installing 3068445 and 3090343 on my Hyper-V 2012 R2 Cluster hosts.

Shows 2962123 installed without KB2919355

KB2919355 is a prerequisite for 3068445 and 3090343.

Is there an updated list of recommended hotfixes and updates? When testing we did not have the recommended updates and it caused major issues, so wanting to verify everything is good.

Hi,

In Feb, you were looking at addressing this in the future.
Now it's June, could you give us an update please.

We are using Veeam B&R Enterprise 9.0.0.1491
On a Hyper-v 2012 R2 cluster and it shows the following on updates, as being missing on both hosts.
3068444
3068445
3090343

I have downloaded the updates and tried to install, but get "This update is not applicable to the computer"

As we will be replicating to a non-clustered host, we also have a standalone Hyper-v host that has the same "Missing Updates"
I know that we can dismiss these, but was a waste of my and others' time, as as IT professional, dismissing these kind of things is not professional and can come back to bite you later.
Maybe disable the functionality completely, until it is resolved.

[MERGED] Missing updates - wrong list

Standalone Hyper-V server.

Yet B&R 9 Update 1 still insists that I have missing updates

Code: Select all

KB3068444: Resolves an issue where a cluster node experiences a Stop 0xF5 FLTMGR_FILE_SYSTEM when using Shared VHDX. Available for individual download. To apply this update, you must first install the update 2919355 on Windows Server 2012 R2.

Available for individual download. To apply this update, you must first install the update 2919355 on Windows Server 2012 R2.

KB3090343: Cluster service stops during the VSS backup in a Windows Server 2012 R2-based Hyper-V cluster.
Description: Resolves an issue an issue that occurs when you use the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) backup on a Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV) volume by using a software snapshot provider in Windows Server 2012 R2.

Well, they are NOT applicable to standalone Hyper-V, but ONLY applicable to Cluster!
So the detection logic is missing something!

But now we are on v9

Surely that should have been fixed?

I can dismiss the wrong info, but it does not change the fact that server is with yellow warning (when it should NOT be)

Hi guys, same issue here, a Cluster with two Hyper-V 2012 R2 boxes fully updated and Veeam 9.0 U1 tell me they have four missing updates:

KB3068444
KB3068445
KB3072380
KB3090343

Cheers,

Marco,

Are you sure they are installed? These are hotfixes and do not come with Windows Update so you need to install them manually

Thanks

Hi Mike, I suppose they are superseded by newer updates, those KB are quite old

For instance KB3068444 replace the Svhdxflt.sys file with file version 6.3.9600.17891 of 29-May-2015 , but on my Servers I have a newer version of this file, just running Windows Update. If I try to manually install KB3068444 he tell me that the update is not compatible with my system

I'm gonna to check also the other 3 KB listed and I'll report to you

My symptoms are exactly as described in the this thread from Feb 2016
ucp.php?mode=activate&u=64023&k=14ZG695W8T

Specifically the DDIT user.
But i don't see any resolution there
Windows says I'm up to date, veeam says apply hot-fixes, hot-fixes say they don't apply to this computer
I have the latest Veeam update 9.5.0.823

thanks

Re: v9.5 Question "One or more critical updates are missing"

Post by dsapergia »

Just installing trial of Veeam 9.5.0.823, these updates are still flagged as missing on my Server 2012r2 Core hosts.
I assumed this was just something to do with Core vs Standard install, but reading this thread it looks like it's just a bug.
While I'm glad they're not required, seeing the Caution triangle on our servers caused a delay in the Demo setup as I tried to find and install hotfixes.
I was also reluctant to configure backup jobs for our VMs as I didn't want to risk being affected by the issues the bug fixes.
Since the issue seems to be ongoing, why not post a note on the hotfix download page https://www.veeam.com/kb1838, explaining that there may be a false-positive detecting these 4 issues?

That is actually not a bad suggestion :-). I will pass this to our support team and ask what their thoughts are! Thanks for the suggestion!

[MERGED] Missing Windows Patches

Post by skprmark »

I have been adding Windows Hyper-V servers to my B&R 9.5 and am seeing what might be an issue. When I add each server the B&R comes back with the message that updates are missing. I have downloaded all four hot fixes for these updates but when I try to install any of them I get the message "This update is not applicable to your computer" These are standalone Hyper-V servers not clustered servers. I have noticed that all for patches address cluster issues but I want to be sure I can just dismiss them instead of there being some sort of work around.

Thanks

That error means either they (or updates superseding them) have already been installed, or you are missing a pre-requisite update that they require to apply
