Veeam Backup Essentials License

Post by conqueredit »

Hi all,
I've got a customer who has 5 VMs running on two Hyper-V servers ( 3 on one server and 2 on the other), located a different sites.

If I install Veeam Backup and Replication on each Hyper-V server, can I purchase one Veeam Backup Essentials 1 year license for 5 VMs and use this license on both servers?

I know VUL is an option but Veeam Backup Essentials provides better value for money.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark

VUL is available as Veeam Backup Essentials. It‘s available as 5er packages and is limited to max 50 VUL licenses.

If you want to manage two VBR with the same license, you should install Veeam Enterprise Manager to manage licensing for both VBR servers.

We don‘t recommend to install VBR directly on the HyperV Server. You should use a VM for the backup server. One VBR server will work for both Sites, because the HyperV servers on each sites are used as Proxy Server. A single VBR can manage backup jobs for both sides. Just make sure to deploy a backup repository server on each site for the best performance.

Thanks
