Veeam R&D CE and Hyper V replication

Post by dewaynedavis »

We are building (3) servers, each with two VMs. Each will boot with Hyper V Server on bare metal boot drive (BOSS card). Each will have 1 - DC and one other for applications (Accounting SQL Express, Estimating SQL Express, and File Share). We were looking at using Hyper V replication. Does this equate 6, 9, or 12 workloads?

We were looking at using Hyper V replication before we learned about Veeam Community.
Does Veeam replication make Hyper V replication unnecessary?

And can I replicate VMs on server 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 1, enabling the ability to spin up quickly if a server goes down?

3 Hyper-V hosts with 2 VMs each = 6 VMs = 6 workloads.

Yes, normally you should either Veeam or Hyper-V replication... I don't see any reason to use both.

Yes, you can replicate any to any.
