Alarm for network error in VM?
Hello, I would need some alarm for network error, something as Nagios PING.
Sometimes happen VM virtual LAN adapter in error state or system freezes, but Veeam ONE didnť send me any warning email.
In VEEAM ONE Monitor I found alarm "Host NIC connection state", its default enabled, but when I try in VM system (try Ubuntu, Win 2003,..) manually disabe LAN connection, nothing happened (no warning message sent).
How can I set up this alarm for VM network/ping error?
Thanks.
We have VM with LINUX (Centos, Ubuntu, Windows 2003-2012R2)
VSphere ver. 5.5, Veem ONE monitor ver. 9.5.

Re: Alarm for network error in VM?
Hello Martin,
Host NIC connection state alarm is based on vSphere esx.problem.net.vmnic.linkstate.down event. The event triggers when Physical NIC linkstate is down.
So disabling LAN connection should not fire the alarm.
We will consider adding more network monitoring capabilities.
Thanks!

Hello,
has the situation changed? We would need alarm for situations when VM crashes or lost network connection.
Thank You

Re: Alarm for network error in VM?
Hi martin.andres,
I think that better way try to test logical network from another point, because Hyper-V host or Veeam monitoring server may not have direct connectivity to your VMs IP (e.g. when your VM is placed in DMZ VLAN, Virtual Networking, IPsec or firewalled).

Re: Alarm for network error in VM?
Martin, since last year we developed product towards application and physical servers data protection monitoring, but we had not many of new features on network monitoring. However there is VM connection failure to notify you that VM is disconnected in VC.
Nail, I guess Martin has vSphere infrastructure.
