Can't remember where to adjust repeat limit

Post by $username »

I seem to recall that there is a section in Veeam One where you can specify the number of times an alert will go off before it stops emailing you.

I am wanting to adjust this limit but I can't figure out where this option is.

Anyone able to help me solve my dumb moment?

If you're referring to event based alarms, then this setting is present in each alarm configuration (Trigger tab).

In this case it's guest disk space alerts, it notifies us a few emails and then stops after a few alerts, I seem to recall the value being set to three consecutive alerts in a period of time.
Am I incorrectly remembering this or is this an available option somewhere?

I also took a look and when looking at the alarm I don't see a trigger tab.

Trigger tab is called "rules", sorry for the confusion. Please check it out.

Alarm frequency can be configured via this option > Configure Email Frequency

So it says "Mission Critical — if this notification policy is used, Veeam ONE Monitor creates a new email notification for every alarm. You get an instant email notification once a new alarm is triggered, or once alarm status is changed."

So am I to understand once an alarm triggers, unless it's status changes it won't email a second or third time?

Yes, that's correct for performance based alarms. If state doesn't change, alarm does not send any notifications. As to the events based, you should be using "ignore after" setting in the rules tab of the alarm.

Thanks Vitaliy!

Is there any plans for v9 to be able to have it email at specified intervals even if the status hasn't changed?

Similar to "Other" notification policy?

I was wondering if it would be possible to modify it on an alarm by alarm basis, there is a business desire to have some specific alarms go to specific units and not stop alarming till the issue has been addressed.
We still want those to fall under the Mission Critical section of the notification as *we* don't need to be repeatedly notified about everything on that particular asset just certain departments on certain alarms.

Hmm... when we were implementing this logic the feedback was completely opposite - people didn't want to receive multiple alarms for the issue that is still not resolved. Can you please give me a bit more details on the alarms for these specific units and what should happen to all these notifications? Do they go to some specific tracking system?
