Feature request - VM Size on Repo

Post by ben.gring »

Feature request on behalf of a customer

Customer would like the ability to create reports that show how much individual VM's take up space on the backup repository.

Hello Ben,
It`s already possible if you use a corresponding VBR option, otherwise(if one backup file contains several VMs) some blocks will be deduplicated.

In order to achieve this please enable this option for the backup repository, run active full backup and then use these reports to review data you need: Backup Billing (v9 only) and Veeam Backup Files Growth (v9 only)

The reports references above are for Veeam ONE not Veeam Backup and Recovery. Is there any way to do this natively within Veeam Backup and Recovery?

Hi Alton, in order to generate some reports natively you should be using PowerShell scripts, feel free to ask for assistance (if you need it) from the corresponding community sub-forum.

As to pre-canned reports, then you can get them from Veeam ONE which was specifically built for monitoring and reporting on Veeam B&R.

Alton, please review this powershell topic.
Since the only way to know VM backup size is to use per-VM chains, you need to know the size of backup file(s).
