How are others managing monitoring with Windows Updates?

Post by $username »

So with one of our other monitoring tools, Accelops when we're about to do Windows Updates we are able to put all machines into Maintenance Mode which suspends all alarms.

In Veeam One you're only able to suppress for a time window or during backups, not both, otherwise I would suppress during a Veeam backup and during our regularly scheduled update window.

Does anyone have a solution on how we could achieve this or could I put in a feature request to have that radio button changed to a check box allowing us to have multiple suppression windows?

We are looking into extending our alarms suppress capabilities. Can you please tell us how long does your backup window last?

Hey Vitaliy,

Right now we have backups running nightly and weekly.

We have backups from 5pm to 12am daily and backups running all weekend every weekend.

We're about to have Veeam B&R in place where we would just have it suppress alerts during backup actions.

Right now our solution is to wait till we have B&R, shift+click all VM level alerts and suppress them the night before patches for the time frame the updates would run and then set it back to suppress during Veeam activity after the updates.

So if there is an option to suppress all alarms during different time intervals would that address your use case?

Well once we go to B&R that suppression will be managed by just suppressing during a B&R activity.

What I would really like is instead of radio buttons in the suppression section is check boxes.

This way I could have it set to suppress during all B&R activity and during our regularly scheduled update window.

Ok, let me take a look at our latest UI (v9) and check if it is possible to do that.

From the UI perspective it should be doable, we are discussing the engine behind checkboxes and what if there is an overlap etc.
