Hi all,
a customer to which I have installed ONE V9, is complaining that there is too much traffic on the WAN on SSL port 5989. I've found that this traffic is CIM Collector to/from ESXi host.
I guess this is a kind of polling on host to retrieve their hwardware status. Is there any way to limit / scheduling this traffic ?
He has ONE server on the italian headquarter, and ESXi infrastructures around the world (2 hosts in USA, 2 hosts in France, 2 hosts in other italian site)
thank you.
Davide

Re: Limiting Collector traffic (SSL port 5989)
Hi Davide,
Port 5989 is required to access ESX(i) host hardware information through CIM over XML protocol.
How much traffic does it send?
Thanks!

Re: Limiting Collector traffic (SSL port 5989)
Hi Nikita,
I know that 5989 is for CIM, but don't know how much packets is exchanged on wan. My customer only told me he has seen anormal traffic on riverbed wan optimizator from headquarter to branch offices on that port.
Tomorrow I will call my customer and ask him riverbed logfiles.

It seems to be a known problem with riverbed appliance https://splash.riverbed.com/thread/6637
