Monitor snapshot time...

Post by vcharlie »

Hi all
Is it possible to monitor, and then alert on, the length of time a snapshot takes? E.g. I use vB&R to kick off a snapshot and I want to be alerted if it takes more than 12 hours.
TIA

Hi, snapshot creation is pretty much instant... what matters is snapshot size, you do not want it to grow much because then commit will take too long. Veeam Monitor 5 does monitor and alert on snapshot size exceeding specified tresholds, there is dedicated predefined alert available for this. Thanks!

Is it possible to add a secondary quantifier that the alarm will trigger not only on snapshot size but length of time it exists.
Ie. 20% for 60 minutes = warning, 30% for 60 minutes = error.

thanks.

Unfortunately, this is not possible today, but we are definitely going to add a "snapshot age" alarm to our default set of alarms.
