Veeam Monitor 5 - Battery on Controller 0 Charging

Veeam Logoby albertwt » Sun Oct 24, 2010 12:55 pm

Hi All,

I've got this warning almost every 10 minutes from some of my ESXi server which is running on Dell Power Edge 2950-III

Code: Select all
Status: Warning (Yellow)
Alarm: Host hardware sensor status changed
Time: 24/10/2010 10:10:57 PM
Sensor "Battery on Controller 0 Charging ..." equal Warning.
Sensor "VMware Rollup Health State" equal Warning

is there any thing that I should / can do about this warning ?

Any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks

Don't worry, it will went away in a few (2-3 days), I had exactly the same problem on 2 new R710, but it's a Dell problem, you can disable the parameter sending out from Dell SNMP in Open Manage (If you have installed it on ESX), search Google, I've seen a blog/answer for that, personally, I will wait for a few days first.

and special thing is once it's gone, it's gone forever, I mean even the next time I reboot my server, I won't see this problem any more. Funny. :)

Ah.. i thought that this is ESXi 4.0 problem ?
I'm planning to upgrade it into 4.1 to see how it goes.

It happens on both Power Edge 2950-III and also my R710 too.

which version of ESXi do you use ?

Hi Albert,

This data is received directly from the Dell Power Edge 2950-III hardware sensors. Hardware sensors allow you to monitor and be alarmed on physical hardware status and possible failures, so I would check event logs as well as the battery status on the Dell server for more information. By the way, do you use the latest firmware for this hardware?

Thank you!

Albert, I've searched the Dell site for troubleshooting guides for your hardware and here is what I've found, might help:
