If you use Veeam B&R off the domain with no DNS servers then the Veeam Help Guide for AHV Version 2 is to amend the host file on your Veeam B&R Server so it will resolve the AHV Proxy...this is not an issue.
But the guide says the AHV Proxy on Nutanix also needs to resolve the Veeam B&R Server and to do that without a DNS Server you need to amend its host file on /etc/hosts on the Linux AHV Proxy Appliance.
My confusion is though that in a new deployment when you deploy a new AHV Proxy from the Wizard in the B&R Console it deletes the AHV Proxy appliance as it fails to resolve the Veeam B&R Server.
How am I supposed to follow the guide to amend the host file under etc/hosts on the AHV Proxy appliance if the Wizard to deploy it deletes it after a failed deployment where the failure is DNS resolution?
The guide is here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/van/u ... tml?ver=20

Re: Amend Host file on AHV Proxy
Hi Nick,
1. Under "C:\Program Files\Veeam\Plugins\Nutanix AHV\Service\appsettings.json" change "RemoveVmOnFailedDeploy" to false. That will keep Proxy VM.
2. Logon to Proxy VM locally and check DNS resolution for VBR (/etc/hosts)
3. Run New Nutanix Proxy wizard again in VBR and register existing proxy.
/Cheers!

Re: Amend Host file on AHV Proxy
Configure primary dns suffix for your Veeam vbr server.
Had todo the same. Without this configuration, proxy deployment doesn‘t work because of no existing fqdn.
