Backup by using backup VLAN different from CVM network

Post by Tos »

Hi
Our prospect customer want to backup VMs on AHV by using Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV.

The customer also want to back up to Veeam Repository from Proxy Appliance by using backup VLAN different from CVM side network (management network).

We thought that they can do it by giving two NICs to the Proxy Appliance.
However, the following cautionary wording was stated on the page of the following document site.
"Make sure the specified virtual network has access to your DHCP server, Veeam Backup & Replication Server and Nutanix Cluster."
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/van/u ... tml?ver=10

Is it possible to use backup VLAN different from CVM side network when running backup VMs on AHV by using Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV ?

This has not been tried, but it should work. I suggest you work with them to try this and let us know of any issues.

One item to note is if you enable and configure another interface, this will be done via ssh / cli, and it will not be visible in the proxy UI interface. Also note that when updating or re-installing the proxy, the customer would have to re-apply these changes they did in the cli.
