Cannot restore Vsphere VM to Nutanix

Post by flesigne »

When I try an instant VM recovery from a vsphere backup to nutanix, the VM is published but migrate to production fails with the error:

Starting migration failed. Operation was canceled by user <user name>

The Migrate to production and the Stop publishing menus are greyed out, I have to stop the session

I then tried an entire VM and it also fails with the error:

Failed to start restoring virtual machine. Internal Server Error
Failed to start the VM <vm name>, 24 restore. The SourceVmId field is required.

Internal Server Error
Failed to start the VM <vm name>, 24 restore. The SourceVmId field is required.

Nutanix and Veeam are up to date (maybe too much up to date?)
Nutanix: AOS 7.3 AHV 10.3
Veeam build: 12.3.2.3617 (this is a fresh install)

I did not find any similar error while searching on the web.
This is not an emergency but for lab purpose

Hi Francis,

I found an internal KB which mentions that this error ("The SourceVmId field is required") during Entire Restore will be fixed in V13. Instant Recovery is suggested as a workaround.

If Instant Recovery is not possible, please contact our customer support team as requested by our forum policy so they can investigate the issue. Don’t forget to provide the case number here.

Thank you,
Fabian
