Twice now the scheduler on the AHV appliance has just stopped working and no backups get processed. It's quite annoying and seems to be random. I will be upgrading to the latest version of Veeam (we're 1 patch behind) on Monday and perhaps this issue is fixed, but how can I check on the service that schedules the backup jobs on the AHV appliance? I'd like to add a check on our Nagios system.
Thank you
Rob

Re: Checking the status of the scheduler on AHV appliance
Hey Rob, do you happen to have any support case ID(s) to share? After speaking with engineering it doesn't seem that scheduler issues are on their radar. As far as third party service monitoring is concerned it's unlikely that a service is crashing (though if you have contrary evidence please feel free to share) and more likely simply in some sort of hung state.

Re: Checking the status of the scheduler on AHV appliance
Hi Ronn
I was searching through my emails because I remember being told a command concerning this, but eventually I found it was a previous post I did here: post530092.html#p530092
You replied that the veeamahvbackup can be restarted, so do you know if this service handles the scheduling (starting) of the backup jobs? When we had this issue last week it went unnoticed for 2 days because we didn't get any failure emails from Veeam and nobody was checking the success emails were coming in (we've changed this procedure now). We never had a chance to triage the issue because people were screaming so the appliance was just rebooted and jobs started as they should after that. We've also further complicated matters by upgrading Veeam to the latest version which removes the old appliance and creates a new one (so likely any logs are gone from the week before).

Hey Rob, yes that should restart everything including scheduling. Please let us know if you continue to see the issue after your recent upgrade.
