Failed to perform backup: Read pointer for pre-read buffer
We had a couple of these last night during backups. When I retried the job this morning it backed up fine, but this is another thing that seems to be going wrong occasionally. Is this is known issue? It got 35GB through the backup before the error came up.

Re: Failed to perform backup: Read pointer for pre-read buffer
Are you using Active Directory user or Nutanix local user to authenticate to your Nutanix cluster?

Re: Failed to perform backup: Read pointer for pre-read buffer
Ah thank you for the prompt, I saw others struggling with AD accounts but was sure I was using a local account (It was created and given to me by someone else). Turns out it was an AD account so we've now created a local account and assigned the prism admin role to it.

Re: Failed to perform backup: Read pointer for pre-read buffer
So unfortunately changing to a local account doesn't seem to have changed anything, which I guess I should have expected since none of our errors were related to "auth" issues.
The most common error we had last night was:
02/10/2024 21:46:47 :: <VM Name> : Failed to perform backup: [RemoteDiskChangesAccessorProxy] GetNextArea exception: External GetNextAreaCallback failed, return code = 1
Failed to upload disk '2c8d75f4-f65c-426e-83b8-0b80f3efb1bb'
Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}.
Exception from server: [RemoteDiskChangesAccessorProxy] GetNextArea exception: External GetNextAreaCallback failed, return code = 1
Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [18302].
Failed to download disk '2c8d75f4-f65c-426e-83b8-0b80f3efb1bb'.
Again, retrying the job this morning and it seems to get a good backup, so I don't know why this is happening. I have to babysit these backups every day currently.

Re: Failed to perform backup: Read pointer for pre-read buffer
@Amarokada These errors are the exact same that I had when I was using AD account, see this thread:
nutanix-ahv-f51/after-veeam-12-2-upgrad ... 95605.html
Since changing the Nutanix cluster authentication in Veeam to a local account I have not had a single backup error.
I also realized that this AD authentication issue was also the cause of random false alerts from my monitoring system because it was also using
AD account to check on the Nutanix cluster.
I switched that to a local Nutanix account and it has been silent since.
