Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
Hi
I know with Veeam and VMware it is possible to exclude certain drives when making a backup, is this possible to do the same with Nutanix?
Reason for asking is we make daily Redgate SQL backups and I want to exclude the drive we store those backups on.
Regards

Re: Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
Hi Lennie,
It is not possible with the current version, perhaps this functionality could be delivered in future releases.
Thanks!

Re: Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
Hi @lenniem,
Is it a generic disk, or a VG presented via iSCSI/directly attached?
Thanks!

Re: Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
Hi @PTide
I believe it is the latter. I did not do the setup but these VM's were migrated from VMware to Nutanix.
If you can point to exactly what I need to check I will gladly assist in doing so.
Thanks

Re: Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
@lenniem,
Select "VM - Table" view, pick the VM, click "Update" and scroll down until you see Volume Groups section. If it's empty, then you are talking about regular disks. If it's not, then you need to figure out whether the volume(s) presented in the Volume Group section corresponds to the volume that you want to exclude.
Thanks

@PTide, thanks for the guidance. It is all normal disks. So I assume I am stuck for now?

Re: Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
Yes, unfortunately. But that's not going to be like that forever - we have that feature on our roadmap already.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
Yes, a feature I would like to see as well.
Another feature would be to rollback single drives, instead of restoring them completely, as can be done in VMware.
Thanks

Using the most recent Veeam B&R in many different environments now and counting!

Re: Is it possible to exclude drives from backups
We are working on disk exclusion.
We can today restore a single disk (vs entire VM), the limitation is a disk that is part of a VG (should be uncommon %)
